We are a Title I School. We have mostly single-parent homes and students being raised by grandparents. Parental involvement is lacking.
Our kids are energetic and love to sing.
They do not have opportunities to go to the theater to see live musicals and orchestra performances. They do not have access to literature at home. I strive to provide these things to my students in my class.
My Project
Movement and vocal exploration have been very limited because of the pandemic. My students have had to wear mask and social distance which limit our ability to freely express ourselves through music.
Scarves, bean bags and bouncy balls can be used in their own space to create their own creative movements to music.
Books are tools to help children find their creative side. Students that are very shy can use puppets to help them with their imagination.
Games are another way to promote movement exploration. The blank dice can be used to write different poses for students to make.
