They were also thrilled to be able to send dog treats along with the toys and notes. I plan to deliver our donation in the next couple of days. \r\n\r\nI have enjoyed seeing students use their creativity to make stories about what it is like to be a shelter pet. Writing has been a struggle for some of my students this year, but having a project they feel connected to has made it much easier to get students to practice these key skills. I can't wait to see how their awareness posters and stories turn out in the end. Your contributions have made a profound difference in our classroom, transforming the way my students engage with mathematics. We have been actively using the new hands-on manipulatives, and engaging math games to make abstract concepts tangible and exciting. The students now have multiple ways to explore and visualize problems, moving beyond rote memorization to true understanding. For instance, we recently used the new colorful fraction tiles to explore equivalent fractions. Instead of struggling with pencil and paper, students were able to physically represent and compare different fractional parts, leading to several \"Aha!\" moments that wouldn't have been possible before. This approach has not only boosted their understanding but also their confidence, making math a subject they look forward to!\r\nThe students' reaction when they first saw the new materials was priceless—a mixture of awe and excitement! They literally cheered when I unveiled the math game station and the vibrant manipulatives. One student, who often feels intimidated by math, immediately gravitated towards the logic puzzle sets and spent the entire independent practice time happily working on them. It truly changed the atmosphere in the room from quiet apprehension to buzzing, productive energy. They no longer see math as a series of isolated procedures; they see it as a fun challenge they can tackle with tools designed for their success. Knowing that these resources were provided by people who believe in them has also given them a real sense of pride and motivation.\r\nThe impact of your donation will continue to grow. This collection has already had a profound impact on my students. These diverse books are essential for fostering critical literacy skills. For instance, we're using them to practice perspective-taking and empathy, discussing how different characters experience the same world. They help us delve into complex themes like identity and community, allowing us to explore how a character's background shapes their choices. We've also been focusing on comparing and contrasting themes and structures across different cultures' stories, and identifying main idea and supporting details within narratives that reflect a wider array of lived experiences.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is an interactive and personal journey. It looks like \"Book Buddies\" sharing their favorite pages during our quiet reading time, or small groups excitedly discussing a character's tricky decision during a literature circle. It also looks like close reading, where we slow down to analyze powerful imagery or challenging vocabulary, and journaling, where students reflect on their personal connections to the stories. These new books have dramatically increased student engagement. I've especially noticed a change in students, who have been searching for stories featuring characters who look like them. \r\nWe are so grateful that you helped us bring these windows and mirrors into our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1755215453555,"projectUrl":"project/promoting-diverse-literature/9402723/","projectTitle":"Promoting Diverse Literature","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bradford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9616496_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723835399196","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9616496"},{"teacherId":8383784,"projectId":9675383,"letterContent":"We have started on our financial literacy series as part of our social studies unit on economics and it has been a huge hit! Instead of simply noticing that things move, students began understanding why motion changes, describing how pushes and pulls interact with factors like friction and gravity to affect speed and distance. Hands‑on experiments helped students make and test predictions, collect simple measurements, and control variables, which strengthened their ability to plan and carry out investigations. The materials also made scientific vocabulary more meaningful. Engagement and persistence rose during lessons as learners designed mini‑experiments and explored outcomes, and the manipulatives supported different learning needs by giving concrete experiences to students who struggle with abstract concepts. I was able to observe students applying ideas in real time and provide targeted feedback, which led to improved results on quick concept checks and richer student writing about experiments. Overall, the manipulatives made abstract science ideas tangible, encouraged curiosity, and created cross‑curricular connections to math (measuring distance and time) and writing (recording observations and explanations).","fullyFundedDate":1755650313681,"projectUrl":"project/may-the-force-be-with-us-science-experi/9614255/","projectTitle":"May the Force Be With Us: Science Experiment Style","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lyons","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9117998_orig.jpg?crop=360,360,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1729288500270","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9117998"},{"teacherId":3591074,"projectId":9688999,"letterContent":"We have only had our ChompSaw for a few weeks, but the students have absolutely loved creating with it.
