it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
For many students in NYC, kindergarten is their first school experience. I want to have a classroom that these students will never forget!
My students are in a dual language classroom where they are instructed one day in English and the other day in Spanish.
They are children of mostly Spanish speaking homes and being exposed to English text and the English language for the first time in kindergarten. It is not only important to get them literate in the English language, but to also foster their native language as well. The goal is to have a generation of bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural students.
My Project
I see the importance of movement in the classroom and that's why most of my instruction is now being done in small group instruction and centers. A laminator is the perfect tool to make sure that my centers are safe and can be used over and over again. The alternative seating is a way for my students who need a lot of extra movement to help stay focused in class. These would benefit students during the day and will help some students feel successful when they have the chance to wobble in their chair without distracting any of the other students in the classroom.
