Move Over Beyonce and Shakira...Pre-K is Ready to Dance
My students need a variety of music CDs and instruments to enhance our pre-k program.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Kelly's classroom raised $302
This project is fully funded
Move over, Beyonce and Shakira...pre-k is ready to dance. When I was a child, I remember dancing around my living room to Crocodile Rock on American Bandstand. The music made me so happy! Unfortunately, the school I attended in the 1960's did not provide us with enough music education. I want the children I teach to be exposed to all sorts of great music.
The world has changed a lot since the 1960's and the music of many different countries can now be found. Music is very powerful; not only can it make you feel good, but it can teach you about the musical traditions of others. Through music, children can see the incredible diversity of others and begin to understand the value of difference. Music captures the soul of people and, when we hear music from other countries, we can become connected to that culture. The children will gain interest and respect for that culture.
The 18 young children I teach come from mostly low income families who may not have the extra funds it takes to purchase educational materials for their children. I am doing my best to provide them here at my school but I need a little help.
Children will be given the opportunity to engage in music and movement everyday in school. We will explore a variety of musical instruments, their uses and the sounds they make. It will help in sound discrimination skills, build language development, and strengthen social skills. The music CD's and instruments will be used year after year and with hundreds of children. A music education will benefit students from different backgrounds and ability levels.
Please consider funding our proposal so we can bring music to 36 ears in our classroom.
Thank you for taking the time to read our proposal and for caring about young children.
