My Students

My classroom is a place where students get to be creative and expressive through singing, playing, and movement. It's one of the few times during the week where they get to "let go" and be themselves.

A vast majority of our student population receives free or reduced price breakfast and lunch.

The district is in a mid to high poverty area.

Although my district gives its fair share of funds to music, they just can't provide everything my students need to thrive in the classroom. I am always looking for opportunities to give them the quality materials and instruments they deserve.

My Project

We currently have one music stand cart in our band room. It will transport about half of our music stands. This still leaves us with the other half to move by hand, taking several trips with several kids.

A new music stand cart will save us time, space, and give us more instructional time.

When the band room has to be cleaned, we currently have to move all the music stands to one side of the band room, and then move them to the other side of the room for cleaning the next day. It would be much more efficient to just move them on the rack, taking up much less space and making it easier to transport to other places in the building.
