Move It or Lose It!

My students need a variety of seating/standing options in the classroom (Hokki stools, stand-up desks, wobble cushions) that will optimize their ability to focus on learning.

My Students

I teach in the Medford, Oregon School District. With over 75% of our students qualifying for free or reduced lunch, we are designated a Title I school. One third of our student body are English language learners.

Creative, dynamic, social, eager, energetic and resilient are just a few words to best describe this group of students.

They make coming to work joyful and exciting and challenging. I am constantly seeking new and innovative ways to meet their needs as 21st century learners who come from varied socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds.

I am honored to learn and grow with such an amazing group of kids. I have the best job ever!

My Project

When was the last time you had to sit in a desk all day long? How was it? Well, if you are anything like my students and me, it can be excruciating.

We need to move.

Movement increases blood flow to the brain, which improves focus. This project will provide a variety of options for students to circulate through during the day. Standing desks, with foot rests, wobble cushions, hokki stools and stationary cycling stations are all proven to optimize students' ability to focus on learning and overall well being.

I am really excited to provide my students with an innovative classroom learning environment where they have seating/standing options to best meet their needs.
