My Students
Third grade is an important time for elementary school students. They come into third grade as the younger kids in elementary school and leave as the older kids, model students for the rest of the school. My students come into school every day eager to learn and excited to engage with whatever we are learning that day, whether it be spelling, vocabulary, summarizing, multiplication, learning about the solar system, or racial inequality. My students ask challenging questions and never settle for less than best.
My Project
These materials will allow my students the mobility to move around the classroom and out of their desk seats to work with each other and more actively engage in the class discussion. Paired reading and reading level books will provide the students opportunity to see where they are striving to read from and allow those who are already able to read at that level to read. The carpet will allow students to gather around the books and to work together in different partnerships while also stretching their legs walking to their desks and to the carpet.
