My students need 18 Hokki stools. I have bought one of my own and asked our parent organization for two, but really want enough for my whole class.

My Students

My class is made up of very diverse students with a variety of needs. First graders are wiggly and are just learning how to focus and regulate their bodies in order to learn. I want to support their development. This is one way I hope to bring more movement into the classroom.

Our class is made up of students from around the world.

We have special education students, ELL students, therapeutic students, and many students with executive functioning, sensory and attention issues. Our school is a welcoming place with a principal who has a wonderful vision and dedication to our school.

My Project

The Hokki stools will be used as alternative seating options for my students. These stools promote students to move as they sit. They receive feedback from the movement that helps them focus. The stools also helps them build important core muscles. After years of seeing students push their chairs back, wiggle right out of their chairs and trying to attach things to the chairs to help them, I finally found the Hokki stools. I purchased one to try and loved it. I got our parent organization to buy 2 more and now want a class set.

I feel these stools will help increase focus, learning, engagement and are just plain fun.

I am looking forward to using these stools along with several other ideas to add more movement into my classroom. I also provide professional development for other teachers and will share how these stools work with others.
