Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they work and with whom. It also allows them to change their location and positions as needed. Children need to move.

Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean, or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow, and core strength.

In turn, this burns more calories and increases metabolism. It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused. Adding more options for students will allow every student in class the chance to change their seating. We currently have scoop chairs, cushions, and stools and hope to add more.

As we finish up January we are running low on working headphones for all students. A new set would be a huge pick-me-up to all and improve or Math and reading lab classes. All students have a school Chromebook and headphones are essential to all our testing.

With working with 1st graders we go through markers and crayons like there is no tomorrow. I have almost used all school supplies from students and don't want to ask my Title 1 student to bring more in.
