My Project

Thank you for considering funding my project. I am a 6th-grade math teacher working in a school district where almost all students come from low-income households.

I strongly believe that motivation is the key to success, and with the right encouragement, students can develop a positive attitude toward math.

Regularly motivating students with small incentives—such as snacks, bracelets, and balls—for completing classwork and homework, participating in discussions, showing their work, and putting forth their best effort will help build the confidence they need to succeed, regardless of their socioeconomic status.

Motivation has a significant impact on student learning and achievement. Motivated students persist longer, put forth higher-quality effort, and perform better in class. To further encourage my students, I want to award math medals to those who complete all five modules in Mathia by the end of the year. Additionally, I am requesting storage trays to help organize supplies for math centers and some shaving cream as my kiddoes love to rub their desks with shaving cream to clean them before wrapping up for summer!
