This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school is located in a large city in Pennsylvania and serves a very diverse population. The school includes grades kindergarten through eighth grade. From arts and music instruction to cutting-edge technology, our school puts students first.
The students, staff, and parents work closely together to make a learning environment where children aren't just happy but are also flourishing.
In addition, the students are very involved with community service and participate in several charity programs throughout the year. I couldn't ask for a better school!
My Project
This year, my newest group of second-grade students has been such a pleasure to teach. They come to school each day eager to learn and grow. My goal is for them to maintain this with a positive growth mindset. Having a growth mindset means that they know that their brain is a muscle and that they can achieve by exercising that muscle. I want to have rewards available to give to them when they persevere through a difficult activity, move up to the next level on one of our programs or stay on task by following the school and classroom rules.
So with this in mind, I want to celebrate the growth that my students show!
The prizes that I included in this project were all suggestions from my students. The stickers, toys, and treats will be given to them as they achieve their personal goals at school, both academic and behavioral. I know that they will be overjoyed to see their own choices added to our prize bin! Thank you so much for providing motivating prizes to encourage my wonderful 2nd-grade students!
