All students are special, but I always claim that mine are #1! This year I am working with 2 separate groups of 3rd graders with various personalities, hopes, and dreams. I have a mixed bag of cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs. The neighborhood is very family oriented where you can walk down the street and will be greeted with a smile and quite possibly a hello on a first name basis. My students are eager to learn and make me proud.
My Project
It’s back to school time with new rules, routines and procedures. New friends and teachers can be overwhelming and scary for some.
We need the motivation of rewards for positive reinforcement.
Even as adults we like to be rewarded for a job well done. So, I want to start the year off right where they work hard for their money...Moola...and can shop for treasures. We will be able to create our own class Moola and use the ink to print the money as needed right away. We will have a bin of treasures as rewards to purchase. Let’s set the stage for positivity from the beginning for smooth sailing all year ahead. Let’s allow them to learn the value of money and choices along the way. Do we save, or spend, spend, spend. The choices are waiting to be made.
