My Students
I teach a 10 student self contained STRIDES unit whose grade levels runs from 9-12. I currently teach math, science, history, english, and a business class for each grade level listed.
The school is an a large urban title one public school.
The students have a range of needs or challenges that are anywhere from homelessness to behavior, academic and social-emotional issues. I find that the students respond to incentives that are useful to them in following the procedures, policies and routines within our school culture and their daily lives.
My Project
The materials chosen will help my students because I believe that the students will be more motivated to participate in their learning. I also believe that by providing incentives that are appealing to them will create a more enthusiastic effort in completing their work.
The most important part of providing these types of incentives are it gives the students a chance to see that once they start to work on their assignments for incentives, it will allow them to see what they can do on their own without the incentives.
