Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Students today seem to steer clear of "reading for fun" and only read what they are told to read or are required to read. As a media specialist, I know there is nothing better than the feeling of being lost in the pages of a book, so I try at every opportunity to read to students and get books in their hands. The items I chose will help motivate students to read and make their reading goals because they will receive a small token for doing so. Reading is the foundation of all knowledge so it is vital that we make every effort in Elementary school to show students the value of learning, how reading is used outside the classroom and how they will use it in the future. A small incentive will be icing on the cake!
