This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are at risk of failing to meet the State's academic achievement standards. We are grant-funded based on the number of economically disadvantaged students.
My students come to me without some of their basic needs met as all of my children are 65% below the federal poverty line.
It is my job to fill in the developmental gaps and ensure kindergarten readiness. I serve at a Title I school.
I serve 20 children, all of whom receive free lunch. I have students with individual education plans and several kids with speech concerns.
My Project
I want to give my kids a beautiful mind using motivational posters to create a growth mindset. When you see something day in and day out, it becomes part of you. Sometimes environmental things just stick with you. I hope to make positive changes in the surroundings in class and down the hallways. I still remember a poster from elementary school:
“Watch your thoughts it will become your words, watch your words it will become your actions, watch your actions it will become your character”.
I want positive sayings to be motivating for students, parents, and faculty. Life is hard, we need motivation, positivity, and each other.
