This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Middle school is hard enough why not give my 6th graders a gentle transition into this madness? Over the years, I have noticed that students work the hardest when they are motivated. What motivates students? Like most of us, my students are motivated by rewards and recognition. These are the ways I am going to make this transition a breeze for my students.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve student motivation and increase student attention, but, you will also help to increase their academic performance.
What a wonderful way to start middle school! I plan to create a snack cabinet for students to use the tickets that they have earned doing various things such as being on task, being a good citizen, being on the winning team / or being the winner at a Kahoot Review, to name a few. I have also learned through the years that students like and deserve to be recognized on their birthdays and this year I plan on recognizing my students with a sticker and a candy of their choice.
As if being in a new school is not hard enough, my 6th graders need to get used to being in the same classroom for three 80-minute block periods a day. Our days are broken up into "A" days and "B" days. "A" days are periods 1, 3, and 5, and "B" days are periods 2, 4, and 6. This year I want to incorporate non-electronic brain breaks that can help with social skills and expression with board games. I am hoping this kind of brain break will help my students with their overall communication skills.
