My students need to move in more appropriate ways during class. I am requesting a classroom set of exercise ball chairs.

My Students
I teach at a fantastic multi-cultural, low income school. Our students often grow up quickly because of the trials they face at home. However, most students come to school with a ready-to-learn attitude.
About 30 percent of our students come from a background where English is not their first language.
It is sometimes difficult for these students to learn English simultaneously with learning new curriculum. It is inspiring to see their hard work and dedication in improving their life through education.
My Project
Research has shown that students who are able to move while they learn, are able to learn more, and retain more of what they are learning.
I want to give my students, who are already starting out at an economic disadvantage, a creative way to close the gap.
A lot of my students have trouble focusing on our classroom work. They have the desire to learn, but don't always have the necessary tools.
By allowing children to move appropriately, within their own desk space, we are allowing the children to focus less on their need to move, and more on their need to learn.
I am requesting a classroom set of exercise ball chairs. Each student will get the opportunity to use the ball as a desk chair. This way, they will be able to get their wiggles out, simultaneous to working and learning. Also, the balls will be contained to their own desk space, so they wont be disruptive to any other students. I really think that this will allow my students to focus on what we are doing, rather than their need to be in constant movement.
More than half of students from low‑income households
