Motivating Young Readers

My students need a classroom set of Scholastic News magazines for second graders.

My Students

My students are on the brink of becoming strong, habitual readers. They need a rich supply of print to keep them growing as readers.

My second grade students are making amazing progress as readers this year.

They have basic reading skills which are getting stronger each day. A few of my students live in the homeless shelter and almost all of them receive free school lunch. Despite the various challenges they face, my students are eager learners.

My Project

A class set of Scholastic Magazines will give my students weekly access to engaging articles. They will provide a way for me to teach my students about current events and they will help my students understand that they are part of a larger world. Most importantly, the magazines will inspire my students to read and read and to read even more---which is the best way for them to become strong readers.

My students need Scholastic classroom magazines to support their reading development.

They have read and reread many of our classroom library books. Having access to new, interesting reading material each week will motivate them to keep reading.
