My Project
After COVID-19 hit, many of our students were home without a lot of monitoring, so we lost out on instruction time and also socialization. Based on our current data, more than 60% of our students are two or more grade levels below where they should be for reading. This means we have a lot of work to do before we send them out to high school.
I have changed the way I teach to ensure more collaboration with students.
I do a lot of group work and I make it a competition for prizes! I am also trying to cut down on the amount of copying students do because that is not a higher-level skill. I have the students use notebooks and I am asking for a thermal printer so I can have them printed and posted in their notebooks to reference in order to spend more time on the application part.
I have a lot of anxiety toys and prizes on my project in order to keep learning fun and meaningful for students to make up for lost time!
