Imagine coming to a new country, where you are expecting life to improve, but instead you are faced with a very different reality. Just imagine wanting to experience education like all other children your age, but sadly your experience is not seeming to match up to other children. And this is mainly due to the struggle of learning the language. This is what my students deal with everyday. I teach in a community that is 100% Hispanic. The students arrive from various countries. The school where I teach is a dual-language school where all of the core subjects are taught in English and Spanish. This environment creates a more comfortable learning environment for the students.
The students in my classroom are extremely eager to learn and hard workers.
Whereas learning in one's home language provides many advantages, it can also create many challenges. It is extremely difficult to keep my students motivated to learn the content they need to learn in English.
These laptops will give my students access to meaningful, educational resources that will assist them in their quest to learn the English language. Learning to speak a new language is challenging enough, but needing to read, comprehend and write in a different language than one's home language can be extremely challenging.
Having an instructional tool that gives my students the ability to improve their English skills and become successful learners is my ultimate goal.
This will surely increase their self-confidence which will also help them stay motivated about learning the English Language. I want to grant my students new innovative instruction that will help them advance in their educational journey.
