My Students
I teach third grade in a rural Maine town. I currently have 17, bright-eyed students who love coming to school, hanging out with their friends, and learning in a safe and healthy environment.
My students are hardworking, dedicated, and loving individuals.
They are goal setters and dreamers. They enjoy learning through play, working with others, and using technology to expand their knowledge. When they put their mind to a task, they can always solve it with perseverance and hard work.
My Project
Having a pair of headphones for each child will help my classroom by allowing every child the ability to hear and complete assignments on the computer. During a math rotation, students are expected to complete math problems on the computer. They are able to listen to directions in order to complete the problems. During reading rotations, groups of students may listen to books being read to them, play literacy games, and record themselves reading.
In order to do these fun and engaging activities, students need access to headphones.
Having their own pair for the year cuts down on the spread of germs. I can easily wash them and save them for future classes as well.
Having "fancy" pens motivates students to use their creativity and to write. Something about a perfect pen can help make even the most reluctant writer become a wonderful author. We use special pens for writing and reading groups. They love getting to pick a pen and watch their words come to life.
