My Students
Have you read a book that captured your attention by allowing you to see different character's perspectives? Well, The Candymakers is the book that will enthrall and motivate my students. Utilizing an Ipad they can use apps to enhance her reading and take pictures of projects and presentations.
My students are MY superstars!
I taught most of them last year for 2nd grade and now I have them again in 3rd grade. They love technology and working on computers, however we do not have enough technology at our school. There are so many programs that need to be worked on for reading and math, that an Ipad would be an incredible donation for our classroom. Since it's a gifted self-contained class, my students are very inquisitive and curious. With an Ipad they could research and complete activities in groups. They could then take pictures and present to the class. I call them my superstars because I teach them to be positive, to believe in themselves and trust that nothing is impossible if you believe.

My Project
My students learn alot through novels and technology. With the use of the Ipad, my struggling readers will work in groups to listen to stories and use programs such as Successmaker Reading and Math. They can also use Reading Plus to improve their fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension. Using the Ipad, my students will also be able to research for their projects such as Hispanic Heritage, African American projects and Native American projects, Frindle, The Mouse and the Motorcycle, and Candymakers projects. For all of these assignments, students need to plan, research and complete a written or computer based project. Then students present their projects to the class. Sometimes the projects are worked on independently, in pairs or in groups. An Ipad would definitely be useful in research and completing their projects. The novel Candymakers will be read for exposing them to great writing and many activities will be completed targeting the Common Core curriculum and FCAT.
Although we are in the age of technology, our classroom does not have the latest technology.
Your donation of an Ipad will be the beginning! :) Most of my students are on free or reduced lunch many do not have Ipads at home. This tool will allow my students to reinforce the skills that I am teaching them through an Ipad. I can work with small groups using the Ipad to give minilessons on what the students are having difficulty with. The Ipad will be greatly used in many ways!
