My goal, as a teacher, is to provide the best learning environment for my students. My school is very supportive in all that I do, but does not have the funds to get new supplies for the students. These students, who come from a high-poverty area, come to school to learn new things and have experiences that they might not be able to at home.
I work with 3rd, 4th- and 5th-grade students with emotional disabilities.
I am so fortunate to have such a great group of students. Although my students face their own challenges everyday, they never fail to try their best in any situation.
My Project
My students come from areas with extreme poverty. Many of the students rely on coming to school for most of their meals. Being a special education teacher, we learn different things that will motivate our students. Most of our students want to do well but have a hard time focusing because many come to school hungry.
Teaching students with emotional disabilities can be challenging especially when your students are starving as well.
My goal for my students in the classroom is to be able to give them what they need in order to succeed, and in this case, that is snacks.
