This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My 2nd-grade students want to thank their mothers for caring for them daily. They want to make unique crafts to thank their mothers. They use two languages ( Mandarin and English) to learn all content areas daily. They read a Chinese book, "My Mother," and realized that mothers make many sacrifices to raise their children. They want to thank their mothers by making their first Chinese Mother's Day card.

This project aims to let students know their mothers are the most special people in their lives.

They can make a special Mother's Day card in Chinese to thank their mothers, who encouraged them to learn the Chinese language from an early age. Learning the Chinese language is the most precious gift that their mothers gave to them. Therefore, it's important they share their appreciation with their mothers.

I just started teaching them two weeks ago. As a new teacher, the resources I have is limited. With the donations from donors, my students will be able to make this authentic project to show their appreciation to their mothers. Filial piety is the most critical value in Chinese culture. My students are not just learning the Chinese language but also the Chinese culture that helps shape them into better people in a diverse society. 75% of students in my classes are learning Chinese as their 2nd or 3rd language. This is their first year using the Chinese language to celebrate Mother's Day and thank their mothers. Your generous donation will help my students to express their gratitude to their mothers.
