This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from a low income area. A large portion of my students have social and financial problems. Most of these students are bilingual and receive free lunch. They struggle to bring in supplies and are often asked to pay and attend events they are unable to afford.

My students are good children from low-income families that deserve the tools necessary to help them prepare for their future; with all the obstacles facing my students, school supplies should not be one of them.

They are hard workers who strive to produce work, and lack the supplies to do so.

My Project

Our girls' and boys' basketball teams require equipment to play. Most of these students do not play organized sports. This after school activity gives them an opportunity to get involved in the school. The students practice each Monday and Tuesday after school and will participate in games. The games will be against different schools across Staten Island. These resources would improve our team as we have limited supplies. New basketballs would greatly help our practices and games. The coaching board will help us during games so we can go over plays. Hopefully, with this donation we will be able to WIN!
