This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a majority Latino population, most are first, second and third generation from recently immigrated families. We have over 70% free or reduced price lunch provided for our students. We have a shockingly sizable homeless student population.

The cost of living is very high in our area and many of these newly arrived families must rely on 2 to 6 of the working adults to work 2 to 4 jobs each; This makes it almost impossible to engrain good eating habits amongst their youths, especially when it comes to breakfast, avoiding nonnutritious foods and the risks posed by processed food.

These families want to instill these habits but in order to survive more directly, simply don't have the time.

The school is improving year by year in all regards recently, while still helping new immigrant children in developing themselves and assisting their families in supporting them, developing the community in turn. All despite the school and area having been known for gang, crime and violence issues for many years. Feeding these upcoming generations and teaching them healthy habits will continue this trend.

My Project

My starter program is simple. I seek to assist a population of families that is overworked due to an extremely high cost of living in instilling their kids (if they choose,) with healthy habits around a overlooked but important meal, breakfast.

With Hand Cleaning Towels, hands will be cleaned, with a variety of healthy snacks hunger will be squashed, with Micro Mint Dental Floss Picks, teeth will be cleaned and with Disinfecting Cleaning Wipes teachers and janitors will not be left with the mess.

Providing these products is just step one, they will build habits that may last a lifetime.
