Help me give my students exciting learning toys for them to do when they arrive at school. These toys will allow me to provide independent tasks that they can do while building understanding of how things work.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I have a classroom of exceptional students who have significant fine motor and communication needs. These wonderful children all learn and grow differently from their peers. They would like fun learning objects that will help them connect and build understanding of how the world works. The toys included in this project allow them to access STEM activities at a level that is appropriate for them. They will learn how to put things together to build, connect, and make things move. These are all pre-reading, writing, and math skills that students need in order to move through their school careers and prepare them for life experiences. In out classroom, no toy is just a toy. Every toy is an opportunity to learn.
Additionally, these students will be learning independent work skills by being given opportunities to work on them on their own for specified lengths of time.
They will learn how to operate within a classroom by learning to independently go and get their materials (tubs) out and put them away with only verbal prompting.
