Morning Tubs: Color and Create!

Help me give my students 3 sets of Magna-Tiles, knitting kits, markers, and coloring books to place in Morning Tubs for a relaxing and pleasant start to the school day.

My Students

Middle school can be tough. Socially, emotionally, and academically, there can be lots of challenges for students in the early teen years. My students are learning English and adapting to a new culture while navigating these difficult years.

My English language learner students are resilient, resourceful, and caring young teens.

My students have been learning a new language and new technology skills at the same time; bit by bit, we've begun developing a classroom community together. We are really looking forward to spending time face-to-face in the coming year.

My Project

Although we are back to in-person learning at our school this year, not everything has returned to normal. For instance, students arrive in our classrooms over thirty minutes prior to the start of the first class. I'm borrowing the Morning Tubs activity from my elementary school colleagues.

Students will arrive in my classroom and dive into knitting, coloring, creating or building using the Magna-Tiles, knitting kits, markers, and coloring books for a relaxing and pleasant start to the school day.

These materials will give students something to do with their hands as they chat and settle into the day.
