I teach in a rural, high poverty school district in Western NY. My students are creative, thoughtful and full of inquiry! They embrace hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to create and find solutions.
In our classroom we offer a variety of learning strategies, opportunities for collaboration and flexible seating to meet the needs of every student.
My awesome first graders come to school each day eager to try new things, discover and grow!
Every morning, my students start the day at Morning Stations. They have the opportunity to create, build and problem solve utilizing a variety of different materials. Although we already have a solid base for Morning Stations, I would like to be able to offer my students even more choices as they begin their day - especially during the second half of the school year.
My students enjoy this routine and it really helps them get focused for their day.
Presenting many different options and allowing students to follow their interests has been a wonderful start to our day in first grade!
Many students also choose to use the Morning Station materials during recess every afternoon. It's an awesome experience to see my students create, problem solve and present projects that they are so proud of!
