Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

A carpet is a space in the classroom where students can all come together and sit down. At the carpet we have morning meetings and closing circle at the end of the day. This is where all the classroom community building gets to happen. Students go around in a circle and share about their themselves or anything that happened to them that week. Sitting down at a carpet creates a safe space for students where they can feel comfortable to share. When sitting at desks it can feel very spread out and not give students the comfortably they need to share. A carpet in the classroom also gives students a place to come and work when they do not want to work at their desk. During reading times it will allow students to spread out and enjoy their book comfortably. A carpet completes a classroom and makes the room feel very welcoming so my kids will be excited to learn.
