Our early childhood school is now in its eleventh year serving the community. In our Pre-K class, that means over 180 students will have come and gone from this Pre-K classroom. Along with that, many other students have called our room home for enrichment classes, after-school programs, and summer camp.
Families send their precious children to our class every day, for us to help them take those first steps towards accomplishing great feats.
Children make this room their home for however long they stay and miss it dearly when they move on. It's something we take pride in, and we hope to continue doing what we love to do and that nurtures their love of learning.
I've been teaching at my first and current school for seven years. No matter who enters through that door, they are part of our school family. I hope to provide them with the absolute best education we can offer.
My Project
Do you remember the first book you read, that made you an avid reader? First impressions are very important. I want to create a great first impression of books, for my students, so they are able to appreciate and love quality books.
The collection of books I am requesting are more than just books.
They are ideas that inspire conversations and allow us to learn so much about our students and their wonders.
This year's group of 4-year-old explorers are wonderful to work with. They are kind, compassionate, bright, and full of great ideas and wonders. They have been fascinated with water and it's a topic that can take our class in so many different directions.
I am requesting books about water to help further our children's inquiry as well as books about color because creating in the art and painting center is their strength in expressing what they know and want to learn more about. Having these books available in our classroom will help develop and foster their love for reading.
George RR Martin wrote, "A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.” I want my students to live a million lives and I want them to start living here, in pre-K.
