My students come from a diverse background of varied languages, cultures, and abilities. However, they all have one thing in common: they thrive when participating in meaningful and engaging learning experiences. My students love to interact with each other and have thoughtful discussions about math and the real-world applications around us.
"We are all math people," is a mantra that students scoffed at in the beginning, but now it is actually becoming true.
In a supportive environment my students are all growing into "math people" as they learn that mathematics is essential and accessible to everyone.
My Project
My students love practicing their math skills by while participating in high-quality and engaging activities like those found on Teachers Pay Teachers. For example, activities like around-the-room scavenger hunts allow students to use gross motor skills while practicing math in a self-checking format. Furthermore, students are encouraged to think deeply with error analysis cards and number tile challenges while still demonstrating mastery of a topic. Doodle notes are also a great resource that provide a creative way for students to branch out from tradition note-taking and develop concepts artistically.
Being new to my current grade level and it's content, I am still acquiring quality activities that provide my students with meaningful, active learning in class.
With this Teachers Pay Teachers gift card I will purchase curriculum extension activities such as around-the-rooms, triples activities, cards sorts, task cards, and doodle notes that provide students with the extra practice and skill extension they need, as well as the fun they deserve!
