Help me give my students shelving, soil blocks, and weed-eating supplies we need to add to our supplies on the farm.

My Project

We are always in need of soil bricks for the raised bed garden because we are continuously planting, harvesting, and amending the beds to grow as much as we possibly can during the school year. The wire shelf will be used to store our garden materials on a small porch we have, and the black-out curtain will keep the items on the shelf from being exposed to too many UV rays which can degrade things super fast. The weed eater supplies are things to make it easier to use our existing equipment.

Having the proper supplies makes it easy for my students to learn the proper ways to tend a garden, deal with pests, and harvest food to eat.

We are almost to the point that our classroom garden is self-sufficient in that we can start saving our own seeds, make our own compost, and grow whatever we need to cook and eat. My students really enjoy watching the seeds become plants and produce food for us to harvest and learn to eat. Making pesto with fresh basil and learning to pickle radishes and carrots were a few of the favorite projects we did last year. The students are now telling their friends to take our class because we get to eat so much and learn lots of new things!
