I teach a diverse group of twenty-eight kindergartners in a high poverty neighborhood. Every morning, my students enter our classroom with a lot of energy and an appetite for learning. I can see their eyes quickly scan the room to see what exciting learning opportunities await.
I teach at one of the most diverse schools in the country!
I absolutely love it! My students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds, but they all love to learn and experience new things. As their teacher, it is my goal to motivate my students and teach the whole child.
All of my kindergartners come from a wide range of backgrounds, languages, and academic abilities. Many of them come from families living in poverty and face various challenges. They come to school every day excited to learn. They are a great group of kids who love school and love learning!
My Project
STEM education will provide my kindergarteners with a strong foundation in the areas of Science and Mathematics. I would like to provide my students with lessons and experiments that foster an interest in the area of STEM. My students will be the future researchers and innovators. A large collection of Magformers will allow my students to engage in hands-on learning. Every day, they amaze me with their curiosity and problem solving abilities.
As a teacher, STEM education is a priority in my classroom.
I am requesting Magformers so that my students will have opportunities to engage in real, hands-on building and creating. They will be able to research, work collaboratively, and problem solve. These are all skills that our future leaders must possess. All of the Magformers will also be used to make science and mathematics come alive in our classroom. Five year olds need to learn by engaging with concrete materials. Access to Magformers in our classroom will give my students direct experience with applied science, engineering, and mathematics. My students will be our future innovators, engineers, scientists, mathematicians, and computer scientists. All of my students will benefit from the use of all of these materials greatly!
