Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are wonderful, expressive, creative individuals, who come from a variety of home environments. The students in my classroom are mostly second language learners, coming to school with very little exposure to the English language. Our school population are mostly Latino, ESL, low-income students, who are thrilled to have the chance to learn and participate in the classroom environment. The students are active participants in a positive school environment that encourages all students to succeed, and they are held to a high level of standards.
My Project
I want my students to have an opportunity to get their brains thinking through Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math right at the start of our school day.
Our classroom should be a fun hands-on learning environment that will spark student innovation.
Just like we need to stretch our muscles before working out, morning tubs will help us stretch our brains before class starts. Student's will be able to build & create with the Quercetti Tecno Building Set. Student's will be able to imagine & design with Tinker Toys, Goobi Construction Set, & NextX Building Construction & Engineering. Student's will be able to arrange & construct with Legos & Klikko Model Building Set. There will be so many possibilities with the materials on the list to encourage students to be thinkers.
Providing an opportunity to engage in STEAM learning at the start of the school day, through morning tubs, will give my students time to create and imagine with their classmates. The bonus is that oral language will be encouraged, as they problem solve through different activities, giving them a positive start to their school day!
