My students need another drum. After attending a World Music Drumming class this summer I'm excited to implement this curriculum this year in music with all grades.

My Students

My students are happy to be at school where they are cared about and cared for. Home lives are hard, but these students have great potential and deserve the same chances other students get.

I am the K-5 Music Specialist at a Title I school in Everett, WA where 73% of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch.

The school has a wonderfully diverse climate where students are encouraged to work hard and be a school of readers. In my classroom, I do all I can to provide real experiences and connect with students in an authentic way. I need help with supplying enough instruments and materials so that everyone can participate fully each time they come to music ready to learn.

My Project

After attending a World Music Drumming workshop this summer I realized how important this curriculum will be for my school. No matter the language barriers or difficult behavior, including drum circles in my classroom will benefit all students. Drumming can bring us together, and my students will greatly benefit from a strong sense of community.

Drumming together is very hands-on, fun, and requires a lot of focus and team work.

We currently have 5 tubano drums, ideally we'd have one for each student or at the least one for every two students. I'm trying to build our set, one high quality drum at a time. Thank you for considering my classroom for your donation!
