My Project

More books, more voices will enrich our classroom library with a diverse selection of high-quality novels, all of which are already approved curriculum. This project will allow us to acquire multiple copies of engaging titles such as “Ender's Game”, “They Called Us Enemy”, “Between the World and Me”, and works by various native authors. Currently, limited classroom sets force us to stagger our reading schedules, hindering dynamic discussions and collaborative projects. By providing enough copies for all students, we can move forward together, fostering a shared reading experience and allowing for richer, more immediate engagement with these important stories.

These extra books are going to make a real impact on my students' learning, letting us dive into discussions together right away.

This project will eliminate the constraints of staggered reading, enabling whole-class discussions and activities to occur simultaneously, fostering a stronger sense of community and shared understanding. Secondly, it will allow for the implementation of more robust book clubs, where a greater number of students can choose and read from a wider selection of texts that resonate with their individual interests and identities, particularly through the inclusion of diverse voices and native authors. Finally, having ample copies will reduce wear and tear on our existing books and ensure that these valuable resources are available for future generations of learners, ultimately cultivating a deeper and more equitable engagement with literature for all my students.
