My students are excited to come to school each day and to learn from one another. They enjoy working in collaborative groups and sharing their knowledge with each other. They enjoy using their critical thinking skills to evaluate new information and integrating the arts to show their learning. They get very excited any time we can use technology in the classroom and they aren't afraid to try something new.
Jane Goodall once said, "You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you.
What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." With this quote in mind, I want to help my students become aware of the impact they are having on the world around them.
My Project
I am so excited to bring materials to my students that will help them stay active and fit. During our PE time, my class will work with scoops and jump ropes to meet some of the goals of the Presidential Youth Fitness Program. Students will use scoop ball sets with mesh bag that I am requesting, to improve their eye hand coordination and practice their throwing and catching skills. After PE, students will reflect on their progress and set a goal for how to improve the number of catches they have in our next PE session. The jump ropes will let students master a skill and learn an activity that they can engage in no matter where they are. Learning how to jump rope will help students develop a lifelong skill and learn about the importance of health-related fitness and physical activity. I am also asking for six balance cushions that my students can use to help them improve balance, coordination and flexibility.
These resources will give my students the opportunity to get moving, active and fit!
They will help my students develop important skills and let them see that being active is not only fun, but that it is an important component of a healthy lifestyle.
