Do you remember how exciting and fun it was to put your newly learned reading or math skills into action? My students need these games to help reinforce their blossoming skills.
My students are special ed students in Grades K-3.
Our community was hit by an EF5 tornado on the last day of school last year. Though our school was not directly hit, we did receive damage and over 1/2 of our city was completely destroyed. Most everyone in the town received some type of damage to their home or automobile. Because of this unprecedented natural disaster, money is extremely tight this year for everyone in our district while we are rebuilding. My school is a Title 1 school with over 52% of our students qualifying for free/reduced lunch.
My Project
I am requesting games to reinforce the reading and math skills I am already teaching them. Special ed students learn best when they are taught using a variety of methods. These games will allow my students to immediately put into practice the skills they have learned in a fun way. This in turn, will help motivate them to practice their skills and in the process become more proficient at the skills in the long run.
Currently, I have very few games available for my students to use.
This donation would make a huge difference in my ability to make learning fun for them. This donation will also help them enjoy the process of learning, will reinforce their skills, and will increase their confidence in their current abilities.
