Make learning fun! My students need lab equipment so they may participate in hands-on science experiments.
My students live in Moore, Oklahoma.
Our district was hit hard at the end of last school year by a tornado on May 20th. The school that I teach at is a Title 1 School. This means that at least 50% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunches. These students often go home to empty houses due to parents being at work and do not always have someone to help them with school work.
My Project
I am requesting lab equipment, such as hot plates, heat resistant gloves, thermometers, and weight boats. These are all materials that we often need to conduct science experiments in class. Because I do not have them, we often have to use other items that aren't as reliable and therefore, it doesn't always make for accurate results in our experiments.
I am a teacher who believes that when students are allowed to actively engage in learning, they will take much more out of it.
Students do not want to learn from reading a boring textbook. I want them to be excited and want to learn. When I am able to make learning fun by letting them participate, I can see that moment on their faces when they understand the concept. That doesn't always happen if you are teaching straight from the textbook.
