it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The Moon Phases Box Activity is a fun hands-on project my fifth grade students will use to learn the phases of the moon. The project involves creating a simple, interactive box model that illustrates the different phases of the moon: new moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, full moon, waning gibbous, last quarter, and waning crescent.
Using craft materials like a cardboard box, foam balls, play dough, and black paint, each student will build a box with a rotating moon model inside.
The model demonstrates how the moon’s appearance changes as it orbits the Earth and demonstrates how light from the sun creates the phases of the moon. This project is not only educational but also promotes hands-on learning and is perfect for our upcoming unit on Orbit and Rotation.
