Our school is in a large metropolis with many of the same challenges facing other cities this size. As teachers, we're sensitive to the fact that many of our students struggle to get their basic needs met. All students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch. Each year our school has more students who are homeless. Most of our students come to school carrying the heavy load of some kind of significant trauma.
Our class is a self-contained, special education behavior unit.
We have great kids! We just need a little extra help. Our classroom is a safe environment designed to help us focus and learn.
The precisely cut geometric shapes in the Inscribed and Concentric Figures (along with the Inscribed And Concentric Figures Activity Set) offer the child the possibility to explore inscription, concentricity and gradation.
The Geometric Form Cards (and Geometric Forms Tray) consist of three series of 35 cards that correspond to the figures contained within the Geometric Cabinet.
The material is designed to encourage learners to explore geometric shapes.
The Geometric Control Chart, Book, Nomenclature Cards and Beginning Labels augment the learning using the geometric cabinet tools.
With the Trinomial Cube children can focus on patterning and ordering, and making connections as to the relationships between the different cubes and prisms regarding dimension, color and shape.
The Geometric Plane Figures (with Geometric Cards and Control Book) are used to link the three-dimensional Geometric Solids to their corresponding two-dimensional plane figures.
