My Students

We are proud to be authorized in the PYP, MYP, and DP offering an IB education from PK - 12.

There are only 25 schools in North America and the Caribbean who hold this distinction.

Our high school is one of the most ethnically diverse schools in Chicago (27% white, 28% Hispanic, and 33 % Black, and 7% Asian). 47% of our students are eligible for free or reduced-priced lunch. Eleven percent of our students have Individual Education Programs (IEPs) and receive support in co-taught classrooms as well as extra resource time. Half of our students come from our elementary school and the other half apply from all over the city.

My Project

My students have a hard time seeing that science is a collaborative discipline. My students need practice collaboratively making meaning of their experimental data. With these monitors, our 9th grade students will be tackling Algebra and Physics for the first time and every visual representation of the mathematical and physical models will help them learn more quickly.

Students will collaboratively decide what the attributes of their graphs mean.

They will interpret the slopes, y-intercepts, and areas under their graphs. Most importantly, students will have to collectively decide on if their data makes physical sense and agrees with what they observe in the physical world.
