This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My Kindergarten students are eager learners who attend school in a high-poverty STEM school district in Texas. Over 85% of my students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. All of my students receive free breakfast. My students are sweet, happy children who are excited about learning. Kindergarten begins the foundation of learning academic and social skills which will carry the students successfully through their academic years. I want to provide resources to help my students have a successful year in Kindergarten!
My Project
My Kindergarten students are just beginning to learn about money. By the end of this year, my students should be able to identify a penny, nickel, dime, and quarter. My students are smart and eager learners so I want to teach them more about money.
My Kindergarten students are ready to learn the values of coins and how to count small groups of coins.
The Counting Coins book will teach my students the names of coins and their values. The book also talks about spending and saving money. Each of my students will receive a copy to read at home. The Counting Money Puzzles are a fun and engaging way for my students to practice counting money. I want each of my students to receive a set to work with over the Summer. My students will have a jumpstart on money and financial literacy in First Grade and in life!
