This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In a continuation school setting, many of our students feel disconnected from the educational process and the world as they deal with personal and academic circumstances that have led them to fall behind in their studies and arrive at our campus.
College and financial literacy to pay for college is a foreign concept for many of our students and families, and these materials will allow us to provide presentations in an open-air, low-stress space.
This will allow students and families to gain awareness about financial literacy, paying for college, financial aid, and potential scholarships in an open, welcoming space to balance heavy subject matter in a light and airy space. Our school is more than 90% Latino/a/x, and more than 90% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch and will benefit significantly from the resources presented.
