The students in my class are eager to socialize, learn, play, and investigate. Each child comes into school at different levels academically, socially, and emotionally. They all thrive independently with positive experiences within our classroom. Every day we learn in a large group, small groups, and individual settings.
My students are between five and seven years old.
Hermantown is a small community in Minnesota next to Duluth. We have 150 students per grade. My students come from diverse family structures and each comes to school with different learning experiences.
This is the Mission Statement for our school: All will learn and succeed! In our classroom, this mission statement represents that all children will make positive gains in all areas academically according to their ability level. Positive reinforcement is the key to success for all!
My Project
The best way for my students to learn is through hands-on experiences. As they begin to learn about the money they can use the OSMO kids and the Pizza Co game to begin to understand financial literacy concepts.
In first grade, we begin to learn the values of coins and how we can use the money to purchase our needs and wants.
After my students have practiced money with the OSMO and Pizza Co game they will be able to work in our classroom store. They will use the Money Sets to put their skills to the test!
