My Project

The "Money Matters: Exploring Financial Literacy through Visual Arts" project at Webster Middle School aims

to teach essential financial literacy concepts through engaging and creative art projects.

Over the course of eight weeks, students in the visual arts class will explore topics such as budgeting, saving, and investing, while creating artwork that brings these financial concepts to life.

The program begins with students designing their own mock banknotes, allowing them to understand the symbolism and value of money. As the course progresses, students will plan art projects within a set budget, learning how to allocate resources and manage costs. They will also collaborate on an art installation that represents long-term financial planning, saving, and investing for the future. To bring the financial lessons full circle, students will participate in a mock art auction, gaining insights into market value and the impact of supply and demand.

By combining visual arts with financial literacy education, this project provides students with a hands-on, creative approach to learning essential life skills. The program emphasizes real-world application, helping students build confidence in managing money, while fostering creativity and critical thinking.

Support of this project will fund art supplies, and art resources to be used in our exploration and understanding of financial literacy. At the end of the program, students will showcase their work, demonstrating their understanding of financial concepts in a final presentation. This project not only enhances financial literacy but also encourages sustainability by providing reusable resources for future classes. Through this unique integration of art and finance, students will be better equipped to make informed financial decisions in the future.
