As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. My students face many obstacles and I am always looking for new and inspirational ways for them to learn and to get an education.
My students are full of life and love being challenged in new and creative ways!
They love to learn and are eager to try new things. I am always trying new ways of teaching to keep them engaged and to teach them why they need to learn the skill. Showing them the big picture gives them a reason to learn.
My students come from different ethnic backgrounds, socioeconomic levels, and different ability levels. My students know they are to meet my high standards regardless of their situation. In my room it is an equal playing field and they don't need to worry about supplies or materials to learn. I truly love my students and want them to be successful!
My Project
My students come from a lower socioeconomic neighborhood and often struggle with money. I want my students to learn at an early age what it takes to be successful from getting a good education to getting a job so they can be financially independent.
Teaching my students financial literacy will help them better their future!
I want them to be able to afford basic necessities without having to worry about if they have enough. I want them to be able to afford housing, support their families, and be able to go on vacations. This project will give them the tools they need!
Teaching my students through books, games, and creating an economic system in my class will allow them to see their potential and practice using basic money management skills to be successful adults.
