Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
One of the most important lessons you can teach children is the importance of money. Without this basic knowledge my students will be sent out into the world unprepared. They need help with basic money skills. Please help them learn to identify and combine money.
I am a Special Education Teacher in an inner city, high need school working with first through fourth grade students.
My students range in abilities, but they are an awesome group who are very excited about school and eager to learn. They work best when they are highly engaged and interacting in the lesson. My students have special needs including learning disabilities, Autism, ADHD, and communication impairments. These students face challenges everyday learning. They work best when they are highly engaged and interacting in the lesson. These supplies will ensure my students become successful adults.
My Project
My students are eager to learn and really need some extra practice with their math skills. With your generosity, my students could feel confidence instead of frustration as they try to master the skills of counting money and making change. These are important skills that last a lifetime. You would be helping them be better managers of their own money.
With the Magnetic Big Money, my students will learn to identify coins and bills as well as make combinations of money. The Making Cents Money Game will be used as a fun and hands-on way to learn and practice their money identification skills. We will be using the Cash Register to work on sorting and organizing money as well as role-playing store scenarios in order to learn how to make change. The Money Math Activity Kit will be used to conduct small group lessons and allow the students to practice their newly learned skills. The Problem Solving Money Books will allow for practice of money skills and literacy in an engaging manner.
My students have enough obstacles to overcome, help me make money not one of them.
These students are the type that if provided with an understanding of money they will become more independent as they get older. To do this I need multiple ways to show what money is worth and how it works. I want to give them the confidence and knowledge necessary to function within their community.
