Help me give my students an opportunity to learn through real-world experiences, through our school store. Students will learn about money, and getting paid using the time clock. They will calculate pay and taxes using the time clock.
Our school has a school store that is run by middle school students. Students on our campus earn 'Den Dollars' to use at the school store. The students come on designated days to spend their money. My students designed the 'Den Dollars' and made copies of the money. Using the paper cutter they will cut the Den Dollars to pass out to the teachers to handout to their students.
My goal is to teach my middle school students both typical and neurotypical about money and budgeting.
Using the time clock, students will punch in daily, and every two weeks will calculate what they have earned after taxes are taken out. After doing this for a few weeks, students will create a budget based on what they have earned. The charging station will be used to chare their phones that we eventually will use to check students out when they purchase items from the school store. The calculators will be used to calculate their salary and budgets. The laminator will be used to laminate pictures of the items sold in the school store.
My student population consists of students who attend their general education classroom, some with learning disabilities, and intellectual and communication delays.
